Spiritual age 2/16/2016

When we see people, we tend to see them through physical age. And that is pretty normal. However, we have to always remember that physical age and spiritual age are not the same.

There are two examples that I can share with.

The first example is about kids at the school bus stop. At the school bus stop, there are 10-12 different aged kids, starting from a kindergartener to a 7th grader. I naturally guess or wish that a 7th grader, older kid, will let smaller kids ride the bus first; but in reality, it is opposite. Some 7th graders always want to get in the bus first. They even push off smaller kids waiting right in front of the bus door, and get in the bus first. On the other hand, a kindergartener says “it is okay and they can go first”, gently smiling.

The second example is about the class where different aged group people joined. When I arrived at the class, my regular seat was taken, so I sat down another empty seat. Later on, an old woman, who is in her 70s, came late and claimed that was her seat. Her voice was loud, kind of yelling. Technically, any seats were not pre-assigned so that anybody could take any seat that was vacant.

You see from these two examples that we tend to expect higher morals and thoughtful actions from physically older people. But in reality, it doesn’t work like that, because we all have different maturity in spiritual age. These people have older physical bodies and older in appearance; however, their true self which is inside of the body, their souls are still pretty immature.

When we were in our spiritual hometown, our family souls are almost similar in spiritual age. Therefore, as long as we stay in our spiritual hometown, we won’t be able to experience something unusual or unexpected. On the other hand, in the planet Earth, there are huge gap in spiritual age so that we constantly experience something unusual or unexpected. All in all, we kind of have to enjoy this diversity, because only through diversity, we can experience and we can learn from the experiences.
