Arigatou 3/1/2016

I watched the movie Everest. This movie is based on the real event of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster. I was so excited when I saw a Japanese woman among the team. When she reached the summit of Mount Everest, she took out a Japanese flag from her backpack and said Arigatou. When I saw the flag and heard her saying Arigatou, tears came out from my eyes. To me, Arigatou is to express and appreciation as well as to send out a positive prayer and a positive energy.

Arigatou is a Japanese appreciation word. It is written “有り難う”. “有り” means “its existence”, and “難う” means “rare and valuable”, so the direct translation of “有り難う” is “its existence is rare and valuable”.

Arigatou also has spiritual meanings. We can exist with the help of many people, all other creatures, and many invisible spirits. We can exist not only with the help of many people such as parents, relatives, ancestors, but also with the supports of plants, other animals, and fish. And of course, we are always surrounded by our family souls. They are invisible, but super powerful. Nobody can live all by ourselves without all these help and support.

That being said, our existences are rare and valuable. Everything, everybody, every moment that we encounter is rare and valuable.

Arigatou to everything to let us exist in this moment. Thank you to everything, everybody, every spirit.
