Appreciation to our good health 3/16/2016

When we are young and healthy, we tend to take our youth and good health for granted. I was one of them. But we cannot keep on ignoring the messages from our physical bodies.

I was diagnosed as diabetic in January 2014. The diagnosis was really shocking to me. I never expected I would get serious sickness. I took my good health for granted. At that time, my A1C was 8.4, which was considered as very, very bad. I cried a lot. I regretted everything what I did to my body for the past several years. I started blaming this and that, to find out the cause why I became diabetic.

After I went through the phase on blaming and cussing about all the possible causes, I changed my mind to think positively. It happened for some reasons. I realized that I should focus on how I can get healed.

I started eating and drinking healthier than before, and accommodating exercise in a daily basis. I started feeling good about my body. With these efforts, I had recovered my A1C to 5.8, which is very close to normal range. I also recovered my body weight to 122 lb, which I felt very comfortable to move around. I have gained these preferable results within 1.5 year.

Then, my husband got laid off. My family had gone through no income for about 1 year. With this stressful causes, my health situation got back to worse. One year after the good results, my A1C went back to bad as 6.7, and I gained weight to 136 lb.

My health condition swings back from good and bad. I think my body is telling me that I should keep my good health physically and mentally no matter what condition I go through. Now, it is time for me again, to stop complaining about the stressful days. I need to change my thinking to positive again.

As we go through our life, we should put some more efforts than younger days, to take good care of our bodies. Our physical bodies are like our partners in this lifetime to fulfill our life missions. So, let’s appreciate our physical bodies and listen to their requests and needs.
