Get used to inconvenience 11/10/2016

Several days ago, our microwave had started acting weird. When we opened the door, the turn table did not stop, kept turning around. Then, this morning, it completely stopped working properly. It does not warm up the food anymore.

The first thing popped up in my head is the inconvenience without a microwave. It is very convenient to warm the food up with just one minute. Now I have to use the gas stove to warm up my food.

I used the gas stove to warm up my food. It only took 3 minutes or so. It was not that bad. And the food tasted good too.

My thought went back to the year 2000, when I completely stopped drinking cow milk. At first I concerned about inconvenience. What should I do for the coffee milk? What should I do when I want to eat ice cream? What about the time of eating cereal? However, my concerns went away quicker than I thought. There were many alternative for cow milk. I just needed to get used to it. Nowadays, there are even more alternative choices for cow milk, such as soy milk, almond milk, and cashew milk.

Probably it can be the same for the life without a microwave. For several days, I will feel inconvenience, but eventually I will get used to the life without it. It won’t be a big deal.

In recent years, I started hearing about the health risks and harms from using a microwave. I have met at least 5 – 6 people who have given up using a microwave. They told me the transition to the life without a microwave went smoothly. One day, their microwave stopped working and they decided not to buy a new one. So, it might be the good timing for me to completely stop using a microwave. I decided not to buy a new microwave.

It might be a god time for everybody to think about out super convenient life. Do we really need everything that makes our life convenient? There will be some things that we should go back to our parents’ age and our grand-parents’ age when they did not have all of the convenient tools.

Any feedback? (^^♪
