Handmade house 5/28/2017

Today we visited one Navajo family who had built their house by hand, all by themselves. All the work was done mainly by the husband. He did the work little by little, taking him 16 years now.

They started when their daughter was only four years old. The daughter is now 19 years old. It would be great memory especially for the daughter. She started helping daddy and mommy to build their house at the age of four. The parents were open for their daughter so that she could freely give her parents some ideas about the house design and layout.

I have a similar experience but slightly different from theirs. When I was three years old, my parents built a new house. My dad was a certified architect as well as a certified plumber. He designed our house by himself. Based on his detailed blueprint, he made a contract with a professional house maker. However, my dad never asked my mom, my brother, or me about any kinds of requests or idea.

I am at the life stage to figure out our life’s final destination. My family are still renting a house at this moment, but soon, we will decide our final area/land and start building a house there.

Any feedback? (^^♪
