Today I went to the dental appointment. This year I have been working on removing any metal filling from my mouth. I had metal fillings in every corner of my mouth. I had finished two corners so far; upper and lower left. Today, the dentist worked on my lower right. For the remainder of one more unfinished area (upper right), I will work on it next year.
I feel lighter when the old metal filling was removed and replaced by tooth colored resin filling. That is the pros.

There are many cons as you can imagine. I don’t enjoy the process at all. It starts with numbing my mouth, followed by scary drilling teeth. Although I don’t feel any pain from drilling due to the numbness, I can still hear the drilling sound and vibration, which makes me feel uncomfortable. It usually takes 4 hours; going in the dental office at 8:30 am and leaving there at 12:30 pm. The fee is very expensive. The worst part comes when the numbness gets weaker. The pain in my teeth, gum, and cheek area comes stronger. On the evening of my previous two appointments, I suffered from severe headache and throwing up.
In my younger days, the metal filling was covered by the health insurance, and the fee was much cheaper than the tooth colored resin filling. Also, nobody told me the danger to have metal filling in my mouth. Therefore, I naturally selected to have metal fillings. Now that I know the danger to have metal fillings.
From my personal experiences and regrets, at least I will do my best on selecting better and wiser options for my family.
