Moral 9/15/2017

In my daily life, I frequently observe people who have different morals from mine. They casually trash their trashes on the street.

I observe school kids trashing wrapping papers and plastic bags after they finish eating candies and snacks on the street. I see the same actions even from adults.

Let me share my experience from observing one of my acquaintances who is in her 60s. Every time when I gave her a ride, she threw away her trashes such as candy wraps and used facial tissues in the car. I also witnessed her doing the same when we got a ride from other people.

Here is another example.

One day I was walking back home from the school bus stop with a girl who lives in our neighborhood area. She suddenly stopped walking and took out one paper from her backpack. The paper seemed to be a test that she took at the class. The paper included some comments written in read. Perhaps, her teacher wrote down some comments in red. It might be some advice to her or her parents.

I thought she would show me the paper, but her action was beyond my imagination. She crumbled the paper and threw away on the street. I couldn’t believe what I saw.

Long time ago, I said one person not to trash on the street or in the car. I gently suggested to take her trashes back home and trash them at home, instead of scattering in public area. I didn’t mean to offend her, but obviously she was mad at me. She defensed herself like this. “Any trash on the street will be blown off to somewhere. Any trash in the car should be taken cared by the car owner.”

Sadly, there will be many other people who will feel the same way as her. That is why I have completely stopped saying anything to these people.

To me, scattering on the street is a bad moral. It is a rude action to Mother Earth. It is like spitting to her face. I would not do that. Same thing goes to scattering in somebody’s car. It is a bad moral.

Moral is up to the individual. It stems from the person’s culture or tradition. I grew up in the environment where we believe spirits everywhere. Even when nobody is watching you, spirits are watching you. We should pay attention if our small deed is right or wrong. I want to keep showing my deepest respects to nature, people, and all the living creatures. My moral might sound wrong to some people. I think it is okay. I just keep living my life by following my moral.
