I finished reading Chris Anderson’s book; TED Talks: The Official TED Guide to Public Speaking. Chris Anderson is the owner of TED, a nonprofit organization that provides idea-based talks.
His book is inspiring and full of helpful tips for public speaking. He introduces many TED speakers in his book and I watched all of them. That is why it took me for three months to finish reading it. Each speaker was unique. Some of them seem to be a natural born public speaker, while some others obviously were nervous and their body and voice were shaking. I actually liked in both ways.

One of the Ted speaker was Monica Lewinsky. In her talk, The price of shame, she shared her own experience on being a victim of cyberbullying. She went to the very edge to lose everything, including even her own life. But she survived with the help and support of her family and friends.
First off, she was scared and reluctant to go in public and share her story. However, over the time, she had heard the news about the people who went through cyberbullying and killed themselves. She thought she should come out in public and share her experience. She kept on motivating herself by saying the mantra to herself. The mantra was “This matters.” I am glad that she came out to public and shared her talk. Her sharing does matters.
I hope many people will watch and listen to her. Her talks was important for everybody. Bullying can happen everywhere. I personally experienced the terror from mass psychology. I also experienced being bullied by many others.
When you witness somebody being bullied, please do not simply join in to a mass bullying group. Let’s at least take time to know the truth. In many cases, the person might have made a small mistake. However, like Monica says in her talk, “We all deserve compassion.”
