Today we finally had a maintenance person to switch from cooler to heater. We still need to use cooler even now. In fact, I needed to turn on the cooler for these past week. I cannot stand for the extreme heat, but I can survive with cold temperature. Honestly I didn’t want to switch it. I wanted to keep cooler all year around in case it gets very hot during winter. But unfortunately, I don’t have the right to make the decision because we are currently renting the house.
The realtor arranges the maintenance person to switch cooler to heater twice a year. We don’t have a right to say no. We just obey to the realtor because the person sounds always irritated or mad on the phone. I simply want to avoid contacting to the person as much as I can.

This year, the realtor arranged a different maintenance person from previous. The person showed up one hour late. There was no apology to arrive late. After his work, he didn’t clean up his mess. There was trash and dust all over the heater area.
That made me realize how good the previous maintenance person was. Whenever he needed to be late, he always gave me a call to let me know in advance. When he arrived 20 minutes late, he sincerely and politely apologized to me. He always brought a handy vacuum cleaner and a small broom. He cleaned the area before he left.
Since I came from Japan where we constantly receive high quality of services, I used to take it for granted to receive same quality of services. From this experience, I learned nothing cannot be taken for granted. Whenever I receive high quality of service, I should appreciate it, instead of taking it for granted.
