Today my family attended the parade meeting. My daughter’s school is going to attend the city’s Christmas parade. When her teacher selected us to be one of the parade walkers, she didn’t know the details, because it was their first time. They have never participated it before.
One leader/teacher shared the information as much as she knew about the parade. Based on the basic information, we will need to gather at the certain location at 3:30pm, wait and prepare for the parade. The parade will start at 5:30 pm. The small children will ride in the wagon with their parents. Since the wagon is not big enough, the maximum capacity will be 10 people. According to the leader, small children are preschoolers and kindergarteners. Depending on the situation, possibly, the 1st graders might be accommodated. That means my daughter cannot ride in the wagon and has to walk all the way.
I quickly checked walking distance with Googlemaps on my cell phone. It shows 2.5 miles one way. Most likely we will need to walk back the same distance to our car where we park. That means we will have to walk five miles in total. And it will be dark night in December.
The leader also mentioned about traffic jam. The police will close a couple of streets for the parade, and even after the parade, they will be closed for little bit longer.
It reminded me of the time when we went to the city firework of the July 4th cerebration. The police closed the street that connected to our house. Normally it takes us 20 minutes back to our home. However, on the fire work cerebration day, due to the heavy traffic and the closed streets, we needed to wait for one extra hour in the city to be back home.
I don’t want to spend our precious time for waiting in a dark cold night. Especially, the day is my daughter’s birthday.

I took a look of my husband and my daughter. Since there were many other students, their moms, and teachers sitting close to us, I could not say anything to my family. With this silent eye contact with my family, I could tell they felt the same way as I did.
Right after I left the school, I told them “I don’t want to attend the parade walking.” They instantly agreed with me. I thought “wow, it is cool!” We can communicate with our loved ones telepathically or through a quick eye contact.
