The house purchasing procedure: made an offer on the house: Day-2: 1/12/2018

This is the continuous story from yesterday about our home purchasing procedure.

Yesterday we went to see the foreclosure house. The following morning, the realtor agent called me. She said somebody already made an offer on the house. She also said if we want to make an offer on the house, we have to do it today.

After a small discussion, husband and I decided to make an offer on the house.

Things went by so quickly. In 30 minutes, the realtor agent came to my house. My husband and I had to read a whole bunch of documents. Then we needed to sign here and there on the documents. We engaged our two hours for the paper work. After everything was done, we were exhausted.

Personally I wanted to deal with the paperwork after we win the bid. But the agent insisted she needed all the paper work done in order to make an offer on the house.

Our part was done. From here, it is under Universe’ realm. If the house is supposed to come to us, everything should go smoothly. If not, any blockage will be the sign that we should not take the house.

On the same evening, we received the phone call from the realtor agent. From her low and sad tone of voice, we instantly knew our offered price didn’t win in the bid. And our intuition was right.

She mentioned the other party offered higher than ours. When I heard this from her, I was about to tell her thank you for her help. I thought this is the end of this house purchase procedure.

But what she said next startled me. She asked us if we want to raise our offered price. I doubted my ear. If we raise our offered price, then what’s next? She will call the other party to raise their offered price? I instantly didn’t like it. The other party already won in the original bid. Why she can’t just honor them? I want to deal with a fair competition.

I told the realtor agent we would not raise our offered price. We would not want to compete anymore. We decided not to purchase this house.

After we decided to not to purchase this house, I felt a great deal of relief in my heart. Maybe my body reaction tells me the right answer for me. We did a right decision on not buying this house at this moment.
