We live in a small city, so that the school is small too. Most grades have only one class each, except for my daughter’s grade. The students on my daughter’s grade are slightly outnumbered from one class size.
Previously the school divided the grade students into two classes. As common in small schools, the school does not have enough fund to hire adequate teachers. Thus, starting from last year, the school used a countermeasure. They set two classes; one is for the 2nd graders only, and the other class as a combined class of the 2nd graders and 1st graders, so that they can save the cost of hiring one teacher.
Many parents did not like the school’s countermeasure. Some parents transferred their child to another school, and other parents started homeschooling to their child.
I didn’t like the school’s countermeasure neither, but I didn’t transfer my daughter to other school. The biggest reason is that its closeness to our house. It is just five minutes’ drive away. I feel safe to have my daughter close to me in school hours. Another reason is that my daughter already gets used to all the teachers and other faculties. They are our neighbors too.
Last year I requested the principal to assign my daughter to the 2nd graders only class. It went well without any issues last year.
As for this coming school year too, I requested the same as last year, to assign her to the 3rd graders only class. I also know the teacher who was assigned to the 3rd graders only class. She is nice and kind.
However, the situation was changed.
Today we received a phone call from the principal. He informed us of their changed plan. The teacher who was originally assigned to the combined class was transferred to the middle school, at this last moment. With this sudden change, in order to compensate the blank, they assigned the nice teacher to the combined class, and assigned the other teacher to the 3rd graders only class.
Now, the issue is the teacher who was assigned to the 3rd graders only class. This teacher is well known with her unfavorable reputation. I have heard by many other students about this teacher being “not-nice.” I should not write in details but I did hear horrible stories about this teacher’s unbelievable deeds.

The principal concerns about my daughter, and he suggested us to move her to the combined class, which the teacher is nice.
We thanked the principal for his kindness and accepted his suggestion to enroll my daughter to the combined class.
I don’t know how the combined class would go. I hope it will go nicely for everybody. If not, I might have to think about either transferring my daughter to other school or homeschooling.
