Guitar 8/19/2018

Recently my daughter had been interested in playing a guitar. She created a small handmade guitar with using a cardboard box with some rubber bands. Interestingly it makes different sounds. She had played the handmade guitar every day. Right after she came back home, she would run to the guitar and play it.

My husband and I thought about buying a real guitar for her. On our second thought, we fear it might be too heavy and big for her.

I had once belonged to a fork guitar club for one year in my high school days. It was simply because I was a huge fan of a Japanese male singer. He sings songs with his fork guitar. I had my hair style just like his, and started learning how to play guitar, hoping I would be able to sing his songs with playing a fork guitar just like him.

It was when I was 15 years old. Even for a high schooler, a fork guitar was too heavy and big.

Today my daughter’s wish came true unexpectedly.

When we browsed around a brand new outlet store, my daughter found a small guitar. It was the only one left in the store.

The box says this toy is for a preschooler, older than three years old. It is a perfect size for my daughter. Even though it is small, it makes sounds like a real one. It has real strings that we can adjust the strength at the back of guitar. This small guitar has only a 4-strings, whereas a normal sized guitar has a 6-strings.

When we came back home, I taught her how to play some simple songs. She memorized them well, but it was still hard for her to properly press down on the strings with the tips of fingers. It will be cool when she masters playing a guitar.
