Basic Electric club back 9/28/2018

As I mentioned in my previous article, my daughter attended at Basic Electric club twice so far. It was held at the local library, taught by the volunteered instructor.

My daughter really liked the electric club, but there was a small problem. The basic electric club is held on the same time and the same day (Thursdays) with the art club at school.

In the previous two years, she had attended at the art club. My daughter likes the electric club and the art club equally. She had wished that she could have two bodies so that she could attend the both.

During such days, my daughter run into the art club teacher at school. The teacher was really looking forward to having my daughter at the art club again this school year. With the teacher’s nice and sincere words, my daughter decided to attend at the art club.

The library director is a very nice person. I mentioned the library director about my daughter’s situation. Unexpectedly, the director offered my daughter the basic electric club on the different day, only for her. We set the day as Fridays, after school.

So, today was the first day for my daughter to attend the special electric club. For the previous two clubs, my husband attended with my daughter. He was not available today, so I attended with my daughter. It was my first time to meet the electric club instructor.

The instructor is a part-time librarian. She is probably in her 70s. She has retired from her life-long career as an electric engineer. She had dealt with the airplane’s safety in terms of electrically calculating the angle of an airplane’s taking-off or landing. She seems to be intelligent.

The club was for about one hour and half. Today she taught Ohm’s law. We started watching a 20-minute video of the story of the German physicist George Ohm. Then, the instructor explained about the resistance with demonstrating by using her handmade circuit board and battery.

My daughter seemed to be interested in. Whenever the instructor asked some questions to my daughter, she answered to them properly. I was surprised at her understanding ability.

I learned Ohm’s law at my junior high school days. It will be definitely beneficial for my daughter to jump start in learning electric logic in such an early age. Among all, she likes this special club. It is like having a private tutor for free of charge.
