On Sunday night, my daughter’s lips started getting slightly red. I thought it was simply due to dry skin and would be healed by itself.
On the following morning, Monday morning, it was not bad at all. It was still slightly red, but hardly noticeable.
However, every time after she went to school, her lips got worse and worse.
On Monday afternoon, when I picked her up at school, it already became noticeable.
Then, on Yesterday afternoon, Tuesday afternoon, when I picked her up at school, my daughter had pain in her lips. Obviously it got much worse than the morning. It was painful for me just to look at her swollen lips.
After I came back home yesterday, I sent an email to my daughter’s teacher and asked for some advice about the swollen lips. I was not sure if the teacher could read my email in the evening or not.
An amazing miracle happened. She must have been sitting in front of computer and reading her emails, right at the moment when I sent her an email. She replied back to me instantly, with lots of helpful information.
She said it is pretty common among young children. They get it after having a cold. It also can happen due to allergic reaction or low immune system. Her son used to get it very often when he was around this age. The teacher also mentioned there are three to four students in her class at this moment, who have the swollen lips. She told me not to worry because it will eventually go away. That being said, some children make the situation worse. Whenever they get embarrassed or stressed out about it, they bite off their lips or lick their lips off.
While I was reading her email, I had a strong feeling that my daughter needs to rest up in order to heal her lips. As long as she goes to school, other students and adults will freely ask about her swollen lips. That makes her feel embarrassed and stressed out. That is the main reason why her lips are getting worse and worse every time she goes to school.
I asked the teacher if I could have my daughter rest up for the following day. The teacher agreed with my idea.
I ended our conversation by telling her I will have my daughter decide if she wants to go to school or stay home tomorrow.
It was very nice of her for giving me those inputs.

Fast-forwarded to this morning.
Right after my daughter woke up this morning, she said she wanted to stay home. She actually felt sick. She had headache and sore throat. Her nose was stuffed. Her swollen lips were still there.
So, my daughter stayed home and had enough resting today. Her lips got much better.
