Instagram debut 4/28/2020

My macrobiotic class instructor announced her upcoming one-hour Instagram live. I never used Instagram before. Today was my debut day of Instagram. I created a new account.

I didn’t know anything about Instagram.

Her live talk was scheduled one hour from 4:30 p.m. in Japanese time. It is 00:30 a.m. in my area that I am definitely in the middle of sleep. I was not sure Instagram live can be replayed later. I asked their private FB page for support. Somebody told me Instagram live is available only 24 hours after the live show. I tried to watch it with my PC, but I could not see the play icon. Later on I found out Instagram live is not available on PC unless installing the add-on program. After installed the add-on, I could watch it, but the screen was 90-degree tilted. I tried to watch it from my iPad, but since my iPad is the old version, it does not allow to install the app. My last option to watch was through my daughter’s newest iPad. After struggling this and that, I finally could watch her live talk.

I enjoyed her live talk. For the first half, she shared some techniques and advice to stay healthy during this pandemic. For the latter half, she answered questions from her students.

One of the students asked about 正義脳. She suffered from being judgmental to others. For example, at grocery store, one customer touched one produce with their bare hand and put it back to the shelf.

I think this term正義脳is a newly created term by somebody with the similar meaning of vigilante or Dirty Harry syndrome. A person with正義脳 constantly is irritated by others who act do not match with the person’s judgments of moral or justice.

I have my personal experiences of正義脳. For the first couple of years when I started living in this country, I was constantly mad at people for their attitudes and actions were not matched with that of Japanese. For example, I used to get irritated to dog owners who clean after their dogs. In japan it was hard to find a person who doesn’t clean after their dogs. On the other hand, here in America, it is hard to find a person who clean after their dogs. As I get used to the people and land energy of this area, I started feeling more calm and relaxed. Now I don’t get irritated by the dog owners who don’t clean after their dogs. I started realizing that my moral does not apply to everybody and that I need to adjust myself to the place where I live.

As for 正義脳, I also think it might be the influence from the environment. People are influenced by Yang energy where people get stricter and more intense in Japan, while people are influenced by Yin energy where people get loose and flexible in America. Both sides equally have advantages and disadvantages, and I cannot say which side is better than the other. The important thing is, I think, to keep ourselves as the state of 中庸 (well-balanced) so that we won’t easily get influenced by the environment or other people.
