Two days ago, I texted the realtor to ask the house owner if he is willing to sell this house to us or not. She texted back to me right away, saying she would love to be our realtor in the process of house purchasing, and she sent an inquiry email to the house owner. She said she should receive the reply soon.
This morning I was eager to know the update regarding the house purchase situation, but I was reluctant to call the realtor. I feel scared talking with her over the phone because of her low tone voice so that I always communicate with her through an email or cell phone text.
When I was about to send a text message to her, I felt a strong feeling that I should call her and talk to her over the phone. So, I took courage and called her.
It was good to have called her. When speaking in person over the phone, she sounded like much nicer and friendlier than communicating through an email or a text.
Through the conversation, I gained lots of information. According to the realtor, the house owner is hard to get hold of. Every time whenever the realtor needs to contact him, earliest would be several days later. Sometimes it takes two weeks or more. Last time he was somewhere in foreign country. I mentioned about our situation. We are granted a piece of land in Navajoland and will eventually build a house there. We had not planned to buy a house in this area until the end of last year. The realtor sent us a rent increase notice letter. They increased the rent by $100. I told her the situation around this neighborhood with the actual rent amount of the house across us and of our next door. I thought the sudden rent increase was a hint for them to kick us out. The realtor told me last year the house owner contacted her. He informed her of the real estate tax and the house insurance increased, and so, he wanted to increase the rent so as to avoid him to pay out of pocket. I thought if the realtor had informed me the reason, I would not have had a bad feeling toward both of them.
So, all is good. I appreciate my family spirits to inspire me to call the realtor instead of texting.
Even though communicating through emails and texts is easy and convenient, talking directly over the phone or face to face in person will be better in understanding each other. Today’s experience was a good lesson for me.
