Valentine dance party 2/14/2019

My daughter came back from school with a big smile on her face. She had a great day at school.

They had a valentine dance party at the school cafeteria. The younger students from kindergarteners to the fourth graders attended. The PTO and some other volunteered mothers prepared for the party. They decorated the cafeteria with many floating balloons and cute heart stickers on its walls.

I asked my daughter if any boys asked her to dance with them, or if they had romantic love songs to dance with.

My daughter started laughing. She said “Mom, we are just kids.” They had only fun and exciting songs for younger kids to crazily dance around. They had fun fighting with floating balloons. It was far from a romantic dance party. I got so relieved to hear that from my daughter.

Now that I recall her teacher told me at the parent conference. She said the school prohibits the younger students from making boyfriends and girlfriends.

My daughter is 9 years old. I know it is not far from today until the day when my daughter talks about her boyfriend. Kids grow very fast. I should cherish every minute and every second to watch over my daughter’s growing process.

Tutoring 2/13/2019

My daughter’s school started offering an after-school tutoring for some students who needed the academic help. My daughter needs help in math, so she attended the math tutoring. Some other classmates in need of language art went to the English language tutoring.

This tutoring class started from last Wednesday, February 6th. Today was their second tutoring class.

My daughter is shy and cannot ask questions in front of many other classmates. In this tutoring class on the other hand, there were only two or three classmates including her, so that she could openly ask any questions she needed to ask the teacher.

I appreciate the teachers who volunteered to offer this tutoring help. I hope this will be great help for my daughter so that she can catch up with other classmates in math.

Trustworthiness 2/12/2019

I received a voice message from the local library. The librarian asked me to return one item I borrowed from the library as soon as possible. She mentioned it was past the due date. Her voice tone was intense. I felt like being scolded for not returning it on time.

I didn’t feel comfortable. It must be their misunderstanding, because we did return it before the due date.

I quickly called the library back. The director answered the phone.

Luckily I had the details with me. I told her the exact dates of when I got the item and when my husband returned it. My husband also remembered the librarian’s name, so I mentioned it to her too.

That was done like that.

Sadly though, nobody in the library apologized me for their misunderstanding. Nobody apologized me for blaming me wrongly. It was disappointing.

I have gone to the local library very often for the past ten years. They should know my personality very well by now. I am trustworthy. I am always good at keeping the due dates. I never forgot returning items borrowed from the library. I am always on time.

I apologize whenever I make a mistake or mistreat somebody. I want other people to do the same.

I deserve to deal with the people who are trustworthy. I deserve to be treated with respect and politeness, just as the same way as I treat others.

Whenever I dealt with people who don’t apologize for their wrong deeds, I end up with pondering. Why does it happen to me? What is this teaching me? Do I have to get used to them and let it go all the time?

I guess I will need to get used to people who have different action patterns from mine. I will need to accept the differences as long as it is not a big deal. I guess I will need to secure myself to stay at the high vibration no matter what.

Favorites 2/11/2019

My daughter pointed out about my long sleeve shirt that I was wearing. It has lots of holes and frayed parts all over.

I know it does. The reason is simple. This shirt is very, very old.

I received this shirt from my brother. He stayed at Australia for one year using a working holiday visa. He was 23 years old and I was 22 years old at that time. He gave me this shirt as a souvenir. I liked the shirt very much. I often wear it since then. Yes, you are right. I keep wearing this shirt for 26 years.

I have several other clothes that are my favorite for decades.

One of them is a red cotton plaid shirt. As for this one, I keep wearing it for 32 years, since I bought it at the age of 16. I was then a high school student. I used to wear this shirt whenever I wanted to feel confident with myself. The only one thing changed about this shirt was how it fits me. This shirt was very buggy on me at the age of 16. Now it fits me slightly tight on me.

Please don’t get me wrong. I am not that poor that I cannot buy a new shirt. I just love some stuff so much, that I keep them forever.

As for my current car, I bought it in May 2013. This year is its 7th year. Nobody believes it is that old age. I believe it still looks quite new. It is because I take good care of my car. It stays inside the garage most of the time. I hope I will have this car for more than 10 years or even more.

I will do the same for the people whom I love so much. I will keep cherishing them until my last day of this lifetime.

Hawaii 2/10/2019

Several days ago while I was taking a walk with my family, my husband mentioned of his upcoming business trip to Hawaii. It was a great news because it was one of his wishes.

When I turned to him while he mentioned about that, I saw a beautiful rainbow in the background. As you know, rainbows are often seen in Hawaii and so, Hawaii is known as “The Rainbow State.” A rainbow is depicted in their vehicle license plates.

As for Hawaii, we visited Kauai as our family vacation in 2011. This time he is going to visit Honolulu, Oahu.

I am happy for him. I hope he will have a safe and fun stay there.

BTW: one of his wishes includes to visit Japan as his business trip. I hope it will happen to him soon.

Seitai treatment 2/9/2019

These past weeks I have been studying Seitai treatment through the online class. It is a great class that provides both of knowledge and actual treatment techniques.

My daughter pleasantly lets me to practice whatever I learned from the class on her. Just one practice is much stronger than thinking only in my head.

I wish I had somebody who lives close to my house and be willing to become my training partner. Hopefully the person will be a student of the same class, so that we can share our treatment ability and give a honest feedback to each other, etc.

In this area I have some people whom I might be able to ask for support. But on my second thought, considering of all the possible factors such as inviting them to my house, not knowing their current health issues, I hesitate to ask them. I don’t know much about them.

I will keep praying for the right support. One of these days I might run into the right person who can be my training partner.

Another opportunity of school 2/8/2019

I happened to have an opportunity to chat with one of my daughter’s teachers. She is one of my daughter’s favorite teachers. I like her very much too.

I asked her if she knows anything about the local charter school. She hears nothing but bad things about the local charter school. She never heard anybody who really liked the school.

On the other hand, she hears lots of good things about the elementary school on the military post.

She is a mother of four children. She said her youngest son goes to the school on post. As far as she is concerned, she feels the school is the best and excellent in this area. She highly recommends it to me.

My husband works as a government contractor and so, we are qualified to apply our daughter to the school.

Maybe I should visit the school and ask for the school tour. I appreciate for the teacher’s new input about the new opportunity.

The beauty of diversity 2/7/2019

My family likes to eat the ready-to-eat-sushi that is sold at the local grocery store. We seldom eat in at a restaurant, so I made today as one of the exceptional days. I purchased the ready-to-eat sushi.

There were three workers in the sushi store inside the grocery store. The store owner is a Korean woman who is my old friend.

Since my Korean friend speaks fluent Japanese, I casually greeted to my friend in Japanese. The other two workers automatically reacted to my Japanese greeting. They responded to me in Japanese. Then, I noticed the two workers were Japanese.

One worker came out from the booth. She said she remembered me.

She mentioned we met and chatted at one of DVD rental stores. When she mentioned the store name, I finally remembered about our first chat. The store was closed in summer of 2016. She clearly remember our short chat of three years ago. She even remembered the place where I lived that I casually mentioned on that day.

It was a little surprise. I normally don’t pay attention to people, especially strangers. Some people are opposite from me. They pay attention to strangers and have good memories.

I am not saying which is good or bad. I guess both are good. Some people pay attention to details, while others don’t. That is the beauty of the diversity, anyway.

Speaking of diversity, my husband and I have totally opposite personality, reaction patterns, and tendencies. As far as my family is concerned, this diversity works the best for us.

Charter school dismissal time. 2/6/2019

It was a really cold day. I seldom use a heater while I am home alone, but I needed to use it today. Our lowest temperature was -1C (34F). I received a text message from my in-law. She said it was very, very cold over there. I checked the weather report of their land. Their lowest temperature was -17C (0F).

***

Yesterday I got a good advice from the teacher during the parent conference. It was to go check the charter school at their dismissal time.

The local charter school currently has 500 students. They divided students into three groups, and each group has their dismissal time 20 minutes apart in order to avoid a huge mess.

The first group is dismissed at 2:25 pm.

I arrived at their parking lot around 2 pm. The parking lot was quiet. There were many vacant lots. In front of the office, there was two lanes for parents to pick their children up.

Starting around 2:10, which was 15 minutes before the dismissal time, parents started showing up. I counted up to 20 cars, lined in the two pick up lanes.

As the dismissal time got closer, the cars waiting in line became around 30 cars. Many more cars parked in the parking lot.

At the exact time of dismissal of 2:25 pm, the bell rang, and children came out through the gate with their teachers. Each kid run to their parent’s car and got on. The cars in pickup line moved forwarding smoothly.

As far as I observed for 30 minutes of their dismissal process, all in all, it was much better than I expected. I didn’t see any hectic situation.

That being said, the school is going to add 200 students from this coming school year. The total number of 700 parents will come and go every day. The fact stays the same.

Other facts will stay the same. The facts are that I don’t like driving, that I need to give her a ride twice a day every day, and that I need to drive 20 minutes one way, totaling 80 minutes driving every day.

Just thinking of these facts makes me feel sick and stressed out.

***

After I came back home, I took out two angel card decks. I used the method of asking A or B options. I set A as the current public school, and B as the charter school.

The result was obvious. The cards, through angels, are recommending me to choose option B, the charter school.

— Oh well…

I will need to keep thinking about it, until I reach at my final decision.

My husband and my daughter already made their decision. They chose to stay in the public school.

Parent conference 2/5/2019

I had a parent conference with my daughter’s teacher.

The teacher showed me the test scores and grades. The grades of English literature and understanding are at the highest level, but not well in math.

Honestly I don’t concern about it. My daughter is superior in her right brain, which is why she is good at literature and understanding, along with artistic talent. As far as she understands the minimum level of calculation, she will be fine.

Although I don’t concern about her academic, I do have another concern. It is about the charter school. I mentioned to the teacher about my honest feeling about the current school and the new school.

My main concern is the issue of friends. In this current school, up until now, four of her best friends left the school. This year she didn’t have any steady friends in the classroom. That was why I thought of transferring her to a new school. The new school will have many new students, so that she might be able to make a new steady friend there.

My other concern about a new school, on the other hand, is a giving a ride to her twice a day every day.

I asked the teacher for any inputs about a charter school.

After our talk, I found out I had the right person to ask for advice.

Here is why.

The teacher said she actually knows a lot about a charter school. Previously she was a teacher at the charter school in Colorado. Based on her own personal experiences, it is really depends on the school, and the student, and the teacher on whether a student really fits to the school.

At the charter school where she worked, they had obligations to show the progress in students’ academic level to the government in order to receive their financial support. Therefore, the students were constantly exposed under many adults’ monitoring. They had many visitors from the other organizations as well as the parents of possible future students. The students had more tests than the students of public school.

She told me two biggest concerns for parents to think about.

One is the cafeteria issue. Her charter school did not have a kitchen where people can cook hot food. Therefore the parents needed to prepare their children’s lunch on their own. Another option is to purchase a lunch from school. The school had a contract with some fast food vendors. She witnessed many confusions in the cafeteria. Students often experienced they didn’t have the right meal that the parents ordered for them.

— Same as her previous charter school, our charter school does not have a kitchen where they can cool hot meals. They have a contact with Pizza Hut, Arby’s, Panda Express. The parents order their children’s lunch online. I don’t know about the exact fee, but probably it will be around $5. When the expenditure comes to every day, it will accumulate to a big chunk amount of money for us. Not to mention, I don’t want my daughter to keep eating a fast food every day. Besides, I want to provide her a hot meal, rather than a cold meal.

The other is the transportation issue. Most charter schools don’t have a school bus, so that the parents need to give their children a ride twice a day in the morning and evening.

— This is what I concern a lot. I don’t like driving. I am not an aggressive driver at all. The school has more than 700 students. That number of parents will pack to the small parking lot every day. I can easily imagine the parking lot to be a disaster every morning and evening at the parking lot.

The teacher also shared her personal experience. She knows about our local charter school well, because her nephew went to the charter school this school year. The nephew didn’t like the school, so he decided to come back to our public school from this coming school year. That tells me a lot.

At the last the teacher advised me to visit the charter school often. It will be helpful to meet and talk to many people who are actually involved in the school, such as the teachers, the faculties, the students, and the parents. Also it will be helpful to go to the school at the exact time of dropping off and dismissal time, so that I can see the game. When she used the word “game”, we all laughed out loud. Indeed it is a game to see parents fight each other in the hectic time frame in the small jammed parking lot.

I appreciate the teacher to share lots of helpful tips and advice about the charter school.
