It was our last day on Navajoland. We took our time in the morning in Navajoaland enjoying on playing with our Chihuahua dog.

We missed going to the Halloween party at the local community this year. We didn’t hear any sound from kids walking around doing trick-or- treat in our neighborhood.

We woke up at 6 a.m., which is 5 a.m. in our time, in order to fix breakfast to serve for a medicine man. Our first impression toward the new medicine man was bad, as he was irritated with something on our first sight. After we offered breakfast to him, he started acting and talking normally. We suspect that he was irritated simply because of hunger.

After the lengthy explanation, we found out he is the same as the other medicine men who charge a high amount of fee and request to offer him some valuable materials including Navajo baskets and a buckskin. At the end of the meeting, I asked him if he could work with us by going through only a simple prayer, instead of going through the traditional ceremony that requires expensive fee and materials. Unfortunately his answer was no. I guess we will have to keep looking for the best medicine man for us.

We went to the flea market in Window Rock around the noon time. We wanted to have mutton stew at the food stand, but their prices shocked us. Just muton stew and fried bread costs $15.

We also visited the zoo. They had a Halloween party. There were many booths where people gave away some candies to kids. It was fun to look around kids’ pretty costumes. This year I’ve seen many sumo wrestler’s and dinosaurs’ costumes. They were cute.

We went to the flea market in Gallup in the morning. I expected there would be many cars and people there, but it was not that bad. Then we went to the Mexican restaurant to meet our friend. We had a good time on sharing good foods and fun conversation. Once we move to Navajoland, we can have more get-togethers and visit each other more often. I look forward to making more friends locally.

We left for Navajoland. It has been only one month since our last visit, so everything seems to be the same as last time. My mom-in-law looked very happy to have us. The traffic was much heavier than last time. Maybe it was because of Friday this time. There were many RVs traveling here and there.

I attended the palmist group lesson in the morning. The teacher changed the start time from 8 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. in Japanese time, which is changed from 4 a.m. to 5:15 a.m. in my time. it was really helpful for me to delay the start time.

I woke up feeling chilly air in my cheek. I was glad that I took out the thick winter blanket last night. We are getting ready for our upcoming visit to Navajoland. With my mom-in-law’s advice, we packed some winter thick jackets.

We still have a very hot day like summer. I am still wearing the clothes for the mid-summer as tank top and short pants. And we are still using the swamp cooler every day.

We had rain in the day time. The clouds looked like snow clouds. In addition to that, the temperature dropped drastically. I received a notice from the property manager that we have to schedule the day to switch swamp cooler to heater as soon as possible. I guess winter has come all of a sudden even though we had a very hot summer-like day yesterday.

Today I attended the seminar for the military family. There were lots of useful information that I didn’t know.
