Grounding 12/12/2016

There are many methods for us to well ground ourselves. My friend advised me to eat lots of local produces and root vegetables such as carrots, yams, and beets. It helped me to root myself to this land.

I have another advice for grounding that was helpful for me. It is to take a walk in the neighborhood area. I take a walk in the morning and evening. Sometimes in the day time too. It really helps me to ground myself.

Whenever I encounter somebody during my walk, I greet them, and they greet me back. We exchange a smile. This simple communication with my neighbors is helpful for me too.

For my first several years in America, I had been suffering from anthropophobia or social phobia. It never happened to me when I lived in Japan.

My symptom was severe. During the five years or so, I seldom went outside. I had stayed home most of days. Whenever I needed to go to the grocery store, I would go there at 6 am in the morning so that I would not run into many people.

I didn’t go see a doctor for this symptom. If I had gone to see a doctor, the doctor might have prescribed me some type of medicines such as a tranquilizer or sleeping pill. I naturally started taking a walk. Then to my surprise, my severe social phobia was naturally healed by talking a walk every day. I am glad that I could heal myself without taking any chemical into my body.

Don’t you think it interesting? My experience shows that simple thing such as laughter or walking can be the great medicine.
