Neighbors come and go 4/23/2019

One of my neighbors moved out last weekend. This family consisted of a man who is probably around my husband’s age, and his wife and the wife’s daughter (his step daughter). The daughter and my daughter went to the same school so that we would see each other at the school bus stop every day. We would always greet each other. The teenage girl was very nice to my daughter and I liked her.

For past couple of months, whenever I passed by their house, I often heard their arguing voices from inside their house. Sometimes they argued in front of the entrance door or even in the backyard. Pretty much everywhere.

After these huge arguments they decided to separate, I guess. The mom and the daughter moved out.

I felt sad for them. They seemed to be a nice family.

I have witnessed many families moved in and out in this area. I might have to say, it might be common throughout America. People freely move their residence.

***

This afternoon I heard another neighbor of mine would move out. The husband is an active military and he was assigned to South Korea. The whole family decided to move there together. Their moving day is set at the beginning of next month; May.

This family has two young children. They are still 9 years old and 10 years old. They were born in Texas, and moved to Maryland and lived there for one year. After that, the family moved to South Korea and had lived there for three years, then moved this area last year. Now they are heading back to South Korea for some more years. It would be tough for the young children to keep moving to a new place.

***

I sometimes think about my family. If my husband had stayed in the military, we would have gone thorough lots of moving, just like them. I am glad I had supported my husband during the transition from the military to the civilian. Now that he has a good job and we can stay at the same comfortable place together.

Tests are done 4/22/2019

This morning my daughter went to school.

The school originally scheduled to be closed today as a spring break to observe Easter Sunday, but the authority changed today as a regular school day. In this February, the school had to shut down one day due to a winter storm. So today was the make-up day of the shut-down day.

I heard there were many booing from students about that.

I guess there are many parents yay-ing secretly for the authority’s decision, to have today as a regular school day. I am one of them.

Anyways, my daughter’s class had the final state test today.

I am glad the tests are all done for them. The summer break is just around the corner.

Broken eggs 4/21/2019

It was Easter Sunday. My husband and daughter went to the stores and restaurants in town to get some items. One of the shopping lists were based on my requests; the sandwiches from the restaurant. I was left behind at home, looking forward to having their sandwich. But my small request was not accommodated. The restaurant was closed. Many other restaurants and stores also were closed to observe Easter. It is probably common sense to Americans, but I did not know about that.

***

In the evening while we went for a walk, we saw a shocking scenery on the street. There were more than a dozen of raw eggs broken on the street. I could tell it didn’t happen accidentally. Somebody threw them and broke them for fun.

It was a real heartbreaking event. I don’t know if it is a common procedure for Easter Sunday or not. I hope it is not common.

I feel sorry for the eggs to have been treated such badly. They are precious lives, not toys for humans.

I hope somebody who did this would know the pain from these eggs. I hope they will stop doing this anymore.

Triglyceride 4/20/2019

As I have written many times in my articles, I have been greatly improving the ability to hear from my family spirits. The ability is getting better day by day, year by year. I think this year is the best of all my life. I can hear their answers easily in daily life to reply to my small questions. They make my small wishes come true. I have been blessed by them every day.

This is one of such daily life experiences of mine.

Since I saw my recent lab test result, I have been wondering about the reason why my triglyceride level was still high. Generally speaking, high Triglyceride is caused by obesity, eating too much fatty foods, drinking too much alcohol, or lacking of enough exercise. None of them applies to me.

Then why?

I was also wondering the reason why the triglyceride level of this April was better than last September, even though all the other values were better in last September.

Today, while I was relaxing, all of a sudden I could feel their answer.

It was nuts.

It was an A-Ha moment. It really made sense to me.

Some of professional dietitians recommended me to eat nuts whenever I feel hungry. They said nuts are good for diabetes. Nuts contains lots of vitamins, fibers, and protein. Among all the best thing for diabetes, nuts don’t affect glucose level.

So, I followed their advice. Especially during last summer I had eaten lots of lots of nuts all day long every day.

However, later in last autumn, while I was listening to the macrobiotic lecture through the online course, the instructor warned us not to eat too much nuts. She said because of lot of fats contained in nuts, some people might have a hard time to digest nuts. It also can cause weakening the function of stomach. After I heard that, I greatly reduced the intake amount of nuts since last winter.

That was why my triglyceride level was extremely high in last September and got improved in this April. It was due to my intake amount of nuts.

I am glad now I know I should pay attention to the intake amount of nuts. I am sure it will contribute to lower my triglyceride level. I will be able to prove it at my next lab test result.

A kite making 4/19/2019

Today the school was closed to celebrate Easter holiday.

My daughter and I went to the library to check out some materials. There, we saw a nice librarian. She is a teacher of the basic electric club. She also supports the craft club.

She asked my daughter if she wanted to do some crafts. Of course she said yes. The librarian decided to teach us to make a kite from a scratch.

We started drawing our image of a kite on a paper. Then, we cut a fabric based on our design. We went to a sewing machine and sewed all around the fabric to make a path for a rope. After secured two crossed wooden sticks in the middle, we put a rope around the kite. We also added a long tail.

When our kites were made, we went to the park next to the library. We didn’t have strong wind this afternoon, so our kites did not go high in the sky. We still enjoyed running and laughing at the same time.

It was fun to have all the process of making something from a scratch.

Just Delayed 4/18/2019

My period has been delayed. It was supposed to come on April 14th. Now that four days have passed since the scheduled date, I started worrying about it. Considering my age, my period could stop in any moment. But I like having my monthly period regularly. I like the feeling of cleansing every month. It resets my body function. I still want to keep having it as long as I can.

I asked my family spirits about my period. Instantly I received some thoughts from them.

It was like this.

I don’t need to worry. It was not ended yet. I will still have it for a while. This month it was delayed because of the recent trip to Japan. While I was in Japan, my body function was confused due to the time difference. It will come, very soon.

My family spirits were right.

In the evening I had my period started.

I told my body “thank-you” for still functioning well for me. I don’t know how many more years or months I will have it, but I will cherish my monthly period every time and keep appreciating my body for functioning well.

Lab test result 4/17/2019

Yesterday’s lab test result came in.

My A1C got worse than the last lab of September 2018. Last time it was 6.4, and this time it got worse to 7.3.

Most values of Cholesterol did not change much; similar to that of last time. Only HDL cholesterol was improved from last time.

My blood pressure was improved. They are now within the standard range.

All the values of liver functions were good, so were other blood values.

Even though my lab test result was not perfectly good, I have a feeling that I am in the right path. I feel more energized and easier to move around than before. I am confident I am taking good care of my body.

***

My friend has been studying Chinese medicine for these past several years. She is now studying to become a Certified Medical Herbalist. She gave me some advice to heal my body.

I am going to write down some of her advice as my personal memo.

Nettle tea is good for lowering blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol. This herb is widely used for diabetes.

Taking mulberry tea before every meal is helpful to lower appetite and to decrease sugar levels and blood pressure.

Bergamot essential oil, or any other citrus fragrant, is helpful to prevent overeating. I can put some drops of citrus essential oil into a cotton ball and keep it in my breast pocket.

Linden tea increases urine production so that it helps lowering blood pressure. It is easy to drink.

Hawthorn tea is used for diseases of the heart and blood vessels such as congestive heart failure.

Milk thistle is a natural treatment for liver problems. It is recommended to take it as a supplement.

Artichoke promotes healthy liver function and detoxifies the body. It contains fiber and protein.

Warming liver helps its function. Liver is located under right breast.

I appreciate my friend to take time to give me these helpful advice.

Annual physical 4/16/2019

I had an annual physical appointment this morning. There I had a very uncomfortable experience from my physician.

As a matter of fact, my day started with nice people.

At the check-in counter, I double-checked with the receptionist this was for an annual physical, not for a debate’s checkup. The receptionist confirmed she got it right. She was nice and polite. She treated me with respect.

When a nurse escorted me to a small individual room, I also emphasized the nurse about same thing. She politely told me the doctor changed it to a diabetes checkup. I explained the nurse the reason why I chose an annual physical, not a diabetes checkup. My insurance company fully covers an annual physical, but does not cover a diabetes checkup. I mentioned about the amount difference between those two appointments.

The nurse carefully listened to me and told me she totally understood what I said. She had a similar insurance policy with mine, and had experienced to receive an unexpectedly high charge for a regular checkup, which was not covered by the insurance policy.  So, she said she would talk to the doctor and change the appointment reason to my preferred one.

So far so good. I encountered with a nice receptionist and a nice nurse.

***

However, my good feeling chain was abruptly cut off by the physician.

Followed by a couple of rough knocking on the door, the female physician entered the room with an arrogant attitude.

Normally the first thing a doctor will do is to greet with a patient. It usually accompanies with a handshake. But this physician skipped this process. Her face expression was obviously mad.

At first I didn’t know if she was mad at me or for some of her private reasons. I greeted politely to the physician with a nice smile on my face.

The physician didn’t greet at me. She didn’t even smile back to me. Instead, to my surprise, she started yelling at me. She was mad at me because I didn’t come see her for a regular diabetes checkup last year. My last visit was last April. She yelled at me saying all the negative things one after the other. I could sense the physician was mad, not because she cared for me, but because I didn’t follow her order. She wanted me to be her “Yes-person“. She was terrible and horrible for threatening me and planting many negative seeds of all the concerns and worries.

I stayed calm and asked her to change this appointment to an annual physical, politely with the reason. Then, she finally and reluctantly changed her plan from a diabetes checkup to an annual checkup.

While the doctor’s visit, she asked me a whole bunch of questions by simply reading all the questionnaires on her ipad screen. All this visit time, she never looked at my face. She stared at the ipad screen and typed my answers.

Whenever I asked about my health-related questions, she cut me off. She said she could not answer any of my questions. Otherwise she would have to charge the consultation separately.

I was all exhausted by her negative attitudes and words by the time of the doctor’s visit was done.

***

Finally the physician left from the room, and in return, the nice nurse escorted me to lab test waiting room.

There, I was greeted by a tall old man. He was a patient waiting for his lab turn before me. His friendly smile and kind energy embraced me and somewhat healed my bad experience from the physician.

After the tall old man was called and went into the lab room, a new patient came into the lab waiting room. It was a woman who was probably in her early 60s. Same as the previous male patient, she gave me her friendly smile. I smiled back to her. We briefly introduced each other and started a short conversation. She and her husband moved from Washington State to this area two years ago. Both of them like this area very much. When I was about to tell her about my story, I was called to enter the lab. Right before I left the waiting room, we held hands and thanked each other for a nice conversation.

At the lab room, I was warmly welcomed by a lab technician. I have known this female lab technician for these several years. She is always polite. Among all she is really good at poking a needle. I don’t need to suffer from the pain. While she was drawing my blood, I casually asked the lab technician if I could ask her some private advice. She said she was willing to do anything she could help me. So I mentioned I just had an uncomfortable experience from my doctor and if I had anybody to leave a feedback. The technician recommended me to talk to the office manager. The manager is the top authority in this clinic. She is sincere and willing to listen any comments and feedback. And she has authority to change any bad behavior of the workers.

***

After the lab test, I went back to the main office and asked for the office manager. I didn’t need to wait for long. Soon, a young woman escorted me to the office manager’s office.

The young woman was a secretary of the office manager. She introduced me to the office manager. My first impressions about these two women were great. I instantly felt I could trust them.

I shared my request about my physician with them.

I want my physician to treat me with respect. I need positive encouragements from my physician. I used to see the male physician in this clinic. He was the best physician ever in this country. He always encouraged me and told me everything would be fine. He always gave me helpful tips to maintain good health. With his advice I regained my good health. Unfortunately he left the clinic for his private reason. I miss him a lot.

The two managements agreed with me. They both respected him and liked him. Many of his patients miss this male physician too.

My current female physician was assigned to me as a replacement of my favorite male physician. The current female physician does the total opposites from my favorite physician. She threats me by saying all the negative things.

With my request, the two managements changed my physician to a young and nice female physician. They both believe this young female physician will be equally great as my favorite male physician.

Also, they both promised me that they would do their bests to make their clinic a better place, so that no patients will be treated badly anymore.

***

Now that I am back at home, I am in the safe and peaceful state as always. I thought back of my experience at the clinic of today.

Even though I had a bad experience from the doctor, I still should not forget that I was surrounded by nice people. Starting from the check-in counter receptionist, the nurse, and a male patient and a female patient whom I encountered in the lab waiting room, to the office manager and her secretary. Everybody, except for the physician, was nice.

I feel those nice people were sent by my family spirits in order to protect me and support me. I feel my family spirits’ enormous love to me all the time. With their constant love, I am always fine.

I believe today’s incident happened for a reason. Perhaps it happened because I still need to practice on speaking up whenever needed. Little by little, I am getting better on speaking up. I am getting better on expressing my truth and feeling.

Resolved 4/15/2019

One week had passed since the incident of my apple credit being hacked. Today it was finally resolved.

During this week, I had communicated with Apple people almost every day. They all said they processed the necessary procedure on their side on the incident day, so that the refund should have been reflected in my account within 48 hours. But for some reasons, it was not resolved within 48 hours. It actually took one week to be resolved.

It was not fun to have experienced being hacked, but still this incident gave me good lessons. Before this incident, I didn’t have enough security process to protect my device.

Now I have done the security processes advised by Apple people.

I added a passcode for opening the device, And for using the credit, I changed my password to a strong one and added a two-way authentication.

Close call 4/14/2019

This morning I went to my office and sat down on a chair in front of my desktop computer.

On my next moment, my eyes and mouth got wide open. My computer screen showed a solid blue screen with an error message. I don’t remember the error message, but I instantly knew it was not good.

I called my husband and he followed the instruction of the error message. Even though followed the instruction, my computer returned to the solid blue screen with the same error message. It didn’t start its normal function at all.

Both of us thought my computer died down forever.

I was shocked. For these past two months, I have been working on making a great research file for myself regarding my health issue and its countermeasures. If my computer dies down right now, all my efforts will be in vain. OMG….

I asked my family spirits for advice. They simply told me “turn off the computer and turn it on again”. I doubted my ear and thought to myself “Seriously? Will it really work in this situation?”

I shared what I heard with my husband. He doubted too, but we decided to try it anyway.

We turned it off. Waited for one minute. Then turned it on.

It took a couple of minutes for my computer to start reacting. But indeed, it came back to life. It started normally.

I quickly grabbed my external hardware and saved everything I wanted to keep as a backup.

It was a really close call. I appreciate my computer came back to life again.

And not to mention, as always, I appreciate my family spirits to save me. I really do appreciate.

***

Considering my computer is now 9 years old, it can die down in any minute. I needed to think about making back-up files. And, I needed to appreciate my computer for still working properly for me. Maybe today’s incident happened to remind me these important lessons.
